Joining a Prediction Pool

This guide explains how to join and participate in existing prediction pools on FrensPool.

Finding Pools to Join

Browse Available Pools

1. Navigate to the "Browse" section in the FrensPool interface

2. View all available pools or use filters to find specific types:

   • Filter by status (Open, Closed, Resolved)

   • Search by keywords in the question

   • Sort by deadline or creation date

Direct Links

1. Pool creators can share direct links to their pools

2. Click the link to go directly to the pool details page

My Pools Section

1. Check the "My Pools" section to see pools you've already joined

2. This section also shows pools you've created

Understanding Pool Details

Before joining a pool, review these important details:

Basic Information

• Question: What the prediction is about

• Deadline: When voting closes

• Status: Whether the pool is Open, Closed, or Resolved

Financial Details

• Buy-in Amount: How much you need to pay to join

• Total Pot: Current total amount in the pool

• Participants: Number of people who have joined

Vote Distribution

• YES Votes: Number of participants who voted YES

• NO Votes: Number of participants who voted NO

• Percentage Split: Visual representation of the vote distribution

Resolution Method

• Oracle Type: How the outcome will be determined (Manual, Chainlink, Social)

• Creator: Who created the pool (important for manually resolved pools)

Joining a Pool

Step 1: Connect Your Wallet

1. Ensure your wallet is connected to FrensPool

2. Verify you're on the Monad Testnet network

Step 2: Review Pool Details

1. Carefully read the prediction question

2. Check the buy-in amount and deadline

3. Consider the current vote distribution

Step 3: Cast Your Vote

1. Decide whether you think the outcome will be YES or NO

2. Click the corresponding "Vote YES" or "Vote NO" button

3. Confirm the transaction in your wallet

4. The transaction will include the buy-in amount plus gas fees

Step 4: Verify Participation

1. After the transaction is confirmed, your vote will be recorded

2. The pool details will update to include your participation

3. You can view your vote in the pool details

After Joining

Monitor the Pool

1. Check back on the pool to see how voting progresses

2. You can add comments to discuss with other participants

Wait for Resolution

1. After the deadline passes, the pool status will change to "Closed"

2. Depending on the oracle type, resolution may be immediate or require action

Claim Winnings (If Applicable)

1. If the pool resolves in favor of your vote, you can claim winnings

2. Visit the pool page after resolution

3. Click "Claim Winnings" and confirm the transaction

4. Your share will be calculated based on the number of winners

Important Considerations

One Vote Per Address

• You can only vote once per pool with each wallet address

• Your vote cannot be changed after submission

Buy-in Requirements

• You must pay exactly the specified buy-in amount

• Ensure you have enough MON for the buy-in plus gas fees

Deadline Importance

• You cannot join a pool after its deadline has passed

• Plan accordingly if you want to participate

Winning Calculations

• If you vote correctly, your winnings will be:

  • (Total Pool - Platform Fee) ÷ Number of Winners

• The platform fee is 0.5% of the total pool

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues joining a pool:

• Transaction Failed: Check that you have enough MON for the buy-in plus gas fees

• Cannot Vote: Verify the pool is still open and you haven't already voted

• Network Issues: Ensure you're connected to Monad Testnet
